Today completes our series of “Prayers for Parents.” As your child heads back to school, I hope these are a blessing to you!
Dear God, thank You for all the gifts and abilities you have given our children. Thank You for creating each one unique and for loving them as if they were they only one to love. Please help our children to always remember everything they have and can do is because of You and who You are. May they use their gifts to honor and glorify You always. Help them to use their skills and abilities to help and serve Your people near and far and may they always draw strength from You. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen
(Based on Ephesians 2:10)
Dear God, thank You for always being near to my child and to me. Thank You for your constant and faithful presence every moment of every day. Help me child to know You are with him/her in all circumstances and at all times. When my child is nervous, fearful or anxious, help my child turn to You and draw calm and peace from Your love. Surround my child with your comfort and protection, God, and help my child to share Your peace and comfort with others. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.

Can you believe it is already August and school will be starting in just a couple of weeks? Even amidst the excitement, as parents we often have concerns and fears that come in to play this time of the year. Over the next two weeks, I will be sharing a few prayers you might find helpful as you send your child off into the world! May you be filled with God’s peace and promises! God is with you as you parent—rely on Him always.
Dear God, as our child returns to school, please help him or her to grow and become more like Jesus. As our child learns reading and math, help him or her also learn about You and Your ways. Guide our child to be kind to others, focus on You and grow in Your love. Help him/her know and understand what it means to love and follow You. Strengthen me to be a model for our child and help me grow to know, love and serve You, too. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
(Based on Luke 2:52)
God, you know this world can be a hard and difficult place. Kids and adults say unkind things and hurt others physically and emotionally. Please surround my child with good, positive examples. Please bring others outside her family to stand beside her, strengthen her and encourage her. Help him/her to be an example of living in Your ways of peace, kindness and compassion. Thank you for loving my child always and through everything. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
