Family GPS 11.01.15

By Lisa Holliday

Welcome!  Whether you have children in the KiDSCOR nursery, early childhood or elementary programs, you will find your weekly GPS activities right here!  May your family be blessed by God as you choose to spend time with each other and Him!

All KiDSCOR kids

Missions Project: Spofford Home will receive the November KiDSCOR offering! Spofford Home is located in Kansas City and serves children who need support while healing from trauma and emotional and behavioral challenges. Some children live at the home and receive their schooling there, while others are best served in their own homes.  Every coin or dollar you bring will go to help these precious children know God loves them.

Prayer:  Dear God, thank you for being so kind to me and all people. Thank you for your love, your mercy and your grace. Thank you for all the ways you have provided for my needs.  Thank you for the caring people you have placed in my life.  Please help me love and care for others. Help me to be aware of your presence and to let others know of your goodness. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Parent Point: Parents often worry about what children “understand” about God. No matter what our age is, we will never understand all there is to understand about God!  Even as adults, we are always learning, and as parents we want our children to be in relationship with God in their earliest years and even moments! Children begin to understand God through love, safety, acceptance, belonging and warmth and these characteristics remain important in their relationships with God and others throughout all their years. As long as children are being loved, accepted and welcomed, they are understanding God in a very important way. They are also learning God loves and welcomes them and all people!  God is love!

Memory verse: “I am the Lord who acts with kindness, justice and righteousness in the world, and I delight in these things.” Jeremiah 9:24

Faith Word: WORSHIP

Bible words: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.” Luke 10:27

Family activity:

Nov 1

Each time you have a meal, pray together as a family. You might have fun praying through the alphabet! At one meal, think of all the things you can pray for that begin with the letter “A.” The next meal, pray using the letter “B.” Remember to praise and thank God as well as ask God for things, too! You might want to draw pictures or write words to help you remember these prayers. Enjoy your family alphabet prayers!

Faith Word: WORSHIP

Family activity: Many children, even babies and toddlers, love books. Snuggle up with your little one and share a story or two.  You might choose books that he or she can chew on or touch.  Include a story from a baby Bible.  Always make sure the stories share the good news of Jesus’ love!  End your reading time with a simple song, rocking and holding your baby, helping your child feel safe and secure.  Your child will learn about God’s love through your love!  Remember you are loved, too!

What to expect at 2012-2013 Wild1’s!

2012-13 WILD1’s: I can’t wait to meet you each week in youth group. We are going to have a great time getting WILD for God! If you still aren’t sure what we do each week then let me tell you a few things. We have some free time at the beginning where you get to just hang with friends and play games. Then we learn some scriptures in a fun way along with some praise and worship songs. The night wouldn’t be complete without you guys telling a joke of the week, so get your jokes ready. Two guys and two gals tell one each week. They may not be all that funny but we still think they rock! Then we dive into the weekly lesson by having some of you come up on stage and help me out! We will learn about God and who Jesus is to you in your life. Man our God is good! Then we will spend some time in small groups and play some games. The night really flies by fast! Be ready for our last Wed. night of the month pizza nights–these are the highlight of our year!
